Safety & Security

Safety is a #1 priority at Pine Grove Elementary School.

As you know, Pine Grove is fortunate to have an outstanding, caring staff.  Our teachers monitor their students carefully so that any boys or girls demonstrating anxiety are referred to support personnel within the building.  Our superintendent has also ensured that Baltimore County Public Schools’ student services personnel are available to support our children, should they demonstrate a need..

Our Emergency Crisis Plan is in place, reviewed, and practiced regularly.  We conduct drills with our students for a variety of potential events.  Our teachers routinely review evacuation and lockdown procedures.

As a safety precaution to our school, visitors to our building must visit the front office to sign in, and our office staff monitors entrants to the school.  Our front entrance is equipped with magnetic-locked doors and visitors enter through one door.   We have placed a sign at our front entrance stating that visitors will need to state their purpose for entering the school and the name of their child, if applicable.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we institute this additional safety measure.

As always, the administration will continue to review our school building safety and security plans with our staff and address any areas of concern.  The administration meets with staff to review our plan and to discuss additional ways to communicate with each other in the event of an emergency, besides the intercom.

Below are some important ways you can help us to keep our school safe and secure below:

·         Please go directly to the office upon entering the building, sign in, and obtain a volunteer or visitor name badge.  Please wear it prominently as staff members will be looking for it and directing anyone without a badge to the office.

·         Please refrain from entering the building during arrival or dismissal.

·         Please remember that we will not be dismissing any students early between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m.

·         Please do not park along the exterior side of the bus loop.  This is especially important for our pre-kindergarten and Tiny Tots’ parents during the mid-day period.  The loop is a fire lane and emergency vehicles are not able to get through when cars are parked on both sides of the loop.
